Mangaluru: Parent-teacher interface held at Carmel School

Mangaluru, Aug 23: The annual general body meeting for the year 2022-23 was held in Carmel School auditorium on August 20 in two sessions.

First session was conducted for the parents of pre-primary to IV in the morning and for the parents of grades 5-10 in the afternoon. Both the sessions commenced with an opening song thereby borrowing strength, love and light from the almighty and a prayer dance rejoicing in the goodness of god.

School report of past 3 years reflecting all the virtual and offline activities carried out was presented in an ingenious way through dances and songs that left the parents awestruck and deeply appreciated by Sr Marie Lucy AC, the joint secretary and Leslie Aroza, the key note speaker of the day.

 

The entertainment dance kept the audience glued to their seats. Jahnavi then introduced the resource person - Leslie Arouza – a well-known family counsellor and compere, associate director of family commission, Udupi Diocese.

The programme conducted by Leslie covered several key areas including ‘My Family- My Responsibility’, importance of parental monitoring and strategies to help and guide children successfully through their teen years to reduce adolescent substance abuse and problematic behaviours. He emphasized on the above points through PPT and sharing of many life experiences to inspire and motivate the participants. It was indeed a thought-provoking discourse.

The toppers of grade 10 board exams - 2020,2021 and 2022 and special achievers were honoured with a trophy and their parents with a potted plant sapling. Addressing the rank holders Sr Marie Lucy -joint secretary of St Ann’s Campus Institutions said, ”Success is not an accident. It is the result of your attitude and your attitude is a choice." Elucidating the quote she stated that the achievers made a choice to sacrifice pleasures, worked hard with determination, patience, perseverance, commitment and finally attained victory, through citing the example of Wilma Rudolf.

It was indeed inspirational. Sr Sarika, the principal in her invigorating address thanked the parents for their generosity and support. She urged the parents to send their ward on time and avail opportunities provided by the school for the all-round development of the students. She further requested the parents to cultivate the habit of praying together, reading and to take family vacations.

Sonia Monteiro made known to the participants the names of the members of the PTA executive committee. 

Teachers Vindhya and Liffin compered the programme. Sr Shanthi Laveen and Sr Preena welcomed Sr Violette AC, newly appointed administrator and the gathering and teachers Akshatha and Ashwitha proposed the vote of thanks.
