Udupi, Feb 23: The employees of the Karnataka state government  have decided to unanimously resort to an indefinite strike from March 1 across the state by absenting themselves from work in support of their demand to revise their salaries, dearness allowance and to implement the old pension scheme.

This decision was taken in the presence of 8,000 elected representatives. The recommendation of seventh pay commission should have been implemented from July 1, 2022, stated K Dinaker Shetty Amparu, the district president of the organisation said in a press release.

The demands of the organisation include obtaining interim report from seventh pay commission soon similar to the sixth pay commission and notification by the government for 40% fitment facilities before the elections moral code of conduct is enforced.

As the livelihood and life during old age is difficult for NPS workers, it is the responsibility of the government to bring NPS workers under OPS category. Old pension scheme is already implemented in Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh states, he stated.

He has requested all the state government employees and officers of the district, taluk and project branches to remain absent from work starting March 1, support the indefinite strike and make it successful.
