Kundapur, Feb 28: “It has been decided to hold Astabandha Brahmakalashotsava at Kollur Mookambika temple from April 30 to May 11,” said temple management committee president Keradi Chandrashekar Shetty speaking in a news conference at Kollur.

“Though the Hindu scriptures state that the event should be held once in 12 years,” it was not possible to be held in the past.  

Additional deputy commissioner and temple in-charge officer Veena B N said that the event will cost about Rs 5 crore. “Rs 2 crore of it will be spent from the temple funds and the remaining Rs 3 crores will be collected from devotees as donations. The donations can be paid by digital payments, E- Hundi or handed over directly. There will be a separate counter at the temple for the purpose from where receipts can be obtained,” she said.

She said that the elections that are approaching will not pose problems for the religious programmes.

Temple management committee members Dr K Ramachandra Adiga, Dr Atul Kumar Shetty, Gopalakrishna, Jayananda Hobalidar, Rathna Ramesh Kunder, Ganesh Kini, Shekar Poojary, Sandhya Ramesh and others were present.
