Bantwal, Mar 1: “The elections for Karnataka Vidhan Sabha in 2023 will be my last one,” said former minister, KPCC vice president B Ramanath Rai.

Speaking in the news conference at Bantwal block Congress office on Wednesday, he said that he lost elections last time due to false propaganda. “Now that the people have realized it, I am confident that they will bless me this time,” he said.

“The people of Bantwal have made me MLA six times and I have to repay their debt. I cannot do politics selling property. I never speak lies,” he said.

“The current elections will be contested on the subjects of unemployment and price rises. Siddaramaiah had brought about several pro people schemes when he was the chief minister and the party has fulfilled its promises. Congress party has the capacity to fulfil the three guarantees announced by the party now,” he said.

“I have conducted development works worth more than Rs five thousand crore in Bantwal. There were allegations that I performed development only in Bantwal when I was the in charge minister. I will not say the work done by others as done by me. I have sincerely worked for the development of Karinja, Polali, Nitileshwara temples and the places of worship of other faiths,” he said.

“The chariot rally by the Congress party will start from Polali temple on March 10 and will cover three gram panchayats in 14 days. The work done in the past and the failures of the current government will be informed to the people,” he said.

Bantwal block Congress president Baby Kunder, Panemangalore block Congress president Sudeep Kumar Shetty, Padmashekar Jain, Mayilappa Salian, Abbas Ali, Venkappa Poojary, Ramesh Naik Rai, Suresh Zora, Subhaschandra Shetty, Jagadish Koila and others were present.
