Bengaluru, Apr 3: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has ruled out taking out Banjara, Bhovi, Korama and Koracha communities from the SC list and invited the leaders of Banjara community for talks.

He was speaking to media persons after inaugurating the State BJP Media Office in Bengaluru on Monday, he said the Sfate Government made internal reservations based on the Cabinet Sub-Committee recommendations and not according to Justice A J Sadashiva Commission.

By doing this, he said there has been a hike in the reservation for the Banjaras but the Congress leaders were spreading the canard and using it as a political issue wherever they are contesting in the May 10 Assembly polls, he said.

Bommai declared that the BJP is also ready to fight against the miscampaign being carried out by the Congress party.

He said a lot of changes have taken place in the country after the BJP-Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power.

Lauds BSY, Ananth Kumar

The BJP has emerged as the biggest party in the whole world. The party has deep roots as well as the best-organized party in the State. A big history is attached to the growth of the BJP in Karnataka as it was single-handedly groomed by former chief minister B S Yediyurappa.

Under Yediyurappa’s eadership, the party has been growing rapidly. Even under the former union minister H N Ananth Kumar, the party grew further, he said.

Now the BJP-led government has a unique record of giving a special budget for farmers as well as giving several schemes for all sections of society.

The Chief Minister said the previous Congress-led UPA government created uncertainty in the country which impacted the economy as well as opened the gates for corruption.

He said every citizen must feel self-confident and get a feeling of safety. The country under Modi’s leadership has witnessed a tremendous development such as the building of highways and airports.

The opposition parties ridiculed Modi when he spoke about the 'Swacch Bharath' campaign. A family which failed to understand the concept of cleanliness ruled the country for 70 years and it's the most unfortunate thing, he said.

In Karnataka, he said drinking water in tap has been given to 40 lakh houses in the last three years and this is the achievement of Modi and the double-engine government.

The government has built toilets, provided lighting to every house, and launched schemes for women, youths, working classes, and girl children in the last four years. Our government stressed the importance of work but the previous government wasted time on constituting committees.

Title deeds have been distributed to 1.5 lakh people living in Lambani tandas by converting them into revenue villages. All-round development was ensured amidst the Corona pandemic and floods. Let the Congress leaders explain what they have done when their party was in power, he said.

"BJP is fully prepared to face the election and they were seeking the votes based on their performance. At the same time, the people were informed about the bad administration of the previous Congress Government, the Chief Minister said.

While the Congress Party was breaking religions, Bommai said the BJP was fixing it. The communal clashes took place during the Congress regime and law and order machinery had collapsed completely.

The state did not face development under the Congress rule, he said terming the Congress rule as the 'dark days' in the history of Karnataka. Over 50 scams occurred during the Congress ruling from 2013 to 2018.

“They weakened the Lokayukta and formed Anti-Corruption Bureau only to hoodwink the people that they have not done anything. If the Lokayukta existed during that time, over 100 cases would have been registered against Congress leaders. The BJP government did not compromise with corruption,’’ he said pointing out that the Congress failed to provide documents to prove the 40 percent commission charge against the BJP government. They have no moral right to talk about corruption.

To contest from Shiggaon

To a question, the Chief Minister said he would contest from the Shiggaon constituency in Haveri district. ``I know my voters and not bothered about who my opponent will be,’’ he declared.

The Chief Minister said the Congress Party did not have faith in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar or on the Constitution written by him.

Reacting to AICC General Secretary and Congress Spokesperson Randip Singh Surjewala's tweet on the reservation, he said Congress leaders have used the words 'illegal' and 'anti-Constitution' for giving the reservation. Dr. Ambedkar had made a provision in the Constitution to give the reservation based on population.

“The state government fulfilled the long pending demand of SC/ST communities and recommended including it in the ninth schedule of the Constitution,’’ he added.
