Bengaluru, Apr 4: The candidates list of BJP will be released on April 8, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and predicted absolute majority for the ruling party in May 10 assembly polls.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Tuesday, he said the developments in the last three to four days are definite points to BJP getting an absolute majority in the elections.

“Unexpected results would come in some constituencies. The rank and file of the party are confident of the BJP getting a full majority in the May 10 polls,” he claimed.

The Chief Minister said the selection of BJP candidates had been done based on reality. “The state-committee meeting will be held for two days starting today and after the meeting, the list of candidates will be sent to the high command. The same will be vetted on April 8 and released on the same day,” he declared.

Reacting to Opposition Leader Siddarmaiah expressing his wish to become the Chief Minister again in an interview with a private news channel, Bommai said the Congress leader may have wished but nobody knows the pulse of people. It would be known once the results are out. With the people's support one can become an MLA. What Siddaramaiah has told was nothing new.

'Congress won't come to power'

He said the Congress Party will not come to power and they are fighting for the seats which they cannot win. That party is fighting for power and the Chief Minister’s post and not doing the good things for the people of Karnataka.

“The utterances of Siddaramaiah indicate what's happening inside the Congress party. On the one hand, KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar, wherever he goes, seeks blessings to become the Chief Minister and on the other hand, Siddaramaiah has been claiming himself as the CM,” he said.

“The people make the Chief Minister but these two leaders of Congress are not in their mind. Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar are dreaming for the CM's post but their dream will never become reality,” he added.

'Defection not to impact BJP'

Asked about the BJP MLC's rebellion and the defection of a few MLAs, Bommai said there are 125 MLAs out of which there are aspirants in some places. Those who are sure of not getting the tickets have left the party. It will have no bearing on the BJP or the Assembly polls. Nobody will quit the party. The KPCC President is floating the names unnecessarily.
