Mangaluru, Apr 29: The BJP should sack MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal or else should apologise to the people of the state for calling the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi as 'Visha Kanya' (poisonous woman), said All India Congress Committee spokesperson Charan Singh Sapra.

He was addressing the media at Congress Bhavan here on Saturday, April 29. He said, “In Karnataka, women have high esteem and dignity in political parties. Yatnal has lowered the dignity of women with such words. He had used deplorable words against the great leader who is the wife of martyr Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and daughter-in-law of martyr Indira Gandhi. She has sacrificed her position of becoming the Prime Minister. This shows the dirty mind and ugly character of MLA Yatnal. Sonia Gandhi is the epitome of sacrifice.

“Yatnal has been made a ‘launchpad’ for ‘Gaali’ politics. People are aware of those who have welcomed the ISI agents with red carpet to Pathankot. The government is helpless though several miles of Indian land has been encroached by the Chinese. Moreover, the Adani brothers are partners in a business with Chinese businessman Chang Chung Ling. Whose money did they invest for the business in China?

“Yatnal denigrated the dignity of women. This clearly shows the anti-women mindset of the BJP. Sonia Gandhi is responsible for several well-known pro-people programmes. People in the state will show the BJP their place in forthcoming elections,” he said.

During the occasion, former Hindu activist Lakshmish Gabladka and activist Haneef joined Congress.

MLC and DCC president Harish Kumar, A C Vinayraj, Bharath Mundodi and others were present.
