Karkala: Resentment over son’s marriage – Woman consumes tablets, dies

Karkala, May 6: Jayalaxmi (57), a resident of Jodurasthe of Kukkundoor village, who consumed tablets to end her life and was admitted to hospital, succumbed.

Jayalaxmi’s husband does catering. When he was at home, Jayalaxmi vomited and was taken to a private hospital in Karkala. The doctor over there advised to take her to Udupi for higher treatment. Accordingly, Jayalaxmi was taken to a private hospital in Udupi but died on May 4.

Jayalaxmi’s son’s marriage was fixed and she was not happy about it. Jayalaxmi frequently said that she was going to kill herself. It is suspected that for the same reason, she might have consumed tablets.

A case is registered at Karkala city police station.
