Udupi: Fr Philip Neri Aranha to celebrate silver jubilee of priestly ordination on May 7

Udupi, May 6: Fr Philip Neri Aranha will be celebrating the silver jubilee of his priestly ordination on Sunday May 7 in St Peter Church, Barkur.

He was ordinated as priest on April 20, 1998 in Mangaluru. During his 25 years of priestly journey, he has served in various parishes including Barkur as parish priest since 2017.

Fr Philip Neri Aranha has served in the various parishes of diocese of Mangalore and diocese of Udupi. From 1998 to 2000 served in Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar as assistant parish priest. From 2000 to 2001 served at Milagres Church, Kallianpur as the assistant parish priest, from 2001 to 2003 he served at St Sebastian Church, Permannur as the assistant parish priest, from 2003 to 2010 as the parish priest at St Anthony Church, Padukone, from 2010 to 2017 at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte as parish priest and during his tenure, a bigger and new church was built and inaugurated. From 2017 till date, he has been serving at St Peter Church, Barkur as the parish priest.

Fr Philip Neri Aranha has developed each place he served. He has successfully brought in the devotes closer to the parish in a spiritual way and in the social development of the parish.

The present Gothic style structure of the church was built and renovated a couple of years ago. The project was taken up by Fr Philip Neri as soon as he took the charge as the parish priest.

Fr Philip is the 3rd child of the late George and Theresa Aranha from Pangla, Shankarapura, who were blessed with 3 daughters and a son. Born on the deast of St Philip Neri, on May 26, 1967, he had his early education in his native at St John the Evangelist School, Shankerpura and PU from SVS College, Katpadi. He has done his graduation from St Mary’s First Grade College, Shirva. He had joined St Joseph’s Seminary Mangaluru in June, 1990 and ordained a priest on April 20, 1998, at the age of 31.

Fr Philip Neri is bestowed with great talents. Over and above he is a good organiser, a motivator, mobilizer of resources and a person with passion to execute what he conceived. He has proved it wherever he served and Barkur offer him plenty of such opportunities.
