Mangalore: Suratkal Mescom Robbery – Accused Get Bail

Mangalore, Jul 14: Poornima (20) from Guddekopla village, who was operating the computer installed at the Mescom collection centre on Bajpe Road Suratkal on behalf of a private firm, and Chetan (23) from the same village, have secured bail. Poornima, who had said in her complaint to Suratkal police that money amounting to Rs 1.36 lac, collected at the centre had been robbed by two youth on a motor bike wearing helmets, was named as accused in the case, after the police questioned her and suspected her involvement. The police say that Chetan, Poornima’s lover, had enacted the robbery at the behest of Poornima.

The policemen had recovered a helmet Chetan was wearing at the time of the robbery from bushes near the Mescom office. The money, which was hidden in a spot in Guddekopla village, has also been recovered.

Both of them were released on bail, after they complied with the terms of bail set forth by the court on Wednesday.
