Bangalore, Jul 14: Street dogs strike again, this time the victim being a five-year-old girl. The girl was attacked on Bilekelahalli on Bannerghatta Road on Wednesday July 13.

Renuka was dragged and bitten by the dogs when she stepped outside her home early on Wednesday. The dogs bit her on her right leg, ankle, thigh, right hand and abdomen. On hearing her screams, her parents rushed to her rescue. The bleeding girl was immediately rushed to a private clinic and later shifted to Apollo Hospital where she is now recovering.

A duty doctor at the Apollo Hospital said that they have administered dog vaccine and given primary treatment to her.

Renuka is the third daughter to her parents who are construction workers, staying in one of the sheds up for construction workers close to an open drainage. Her mother Sharanamma said that she was aware that her daughter had stepped out.

There are nearly 10 to 15 stray dogs in this area.

Naveen Kumar B V, supervisor of Animal Rights Fund, said that they have caught atleast six stray dogs in the area.

Corporator Roopa Ramesh said that the stray dog menace had been increasing by the day in her ward. Roopa said that the BBMP council is trying to get compensation for the girl’s parents.
