Kundapur: Explosive Materials Found in Abandoned Car

Kundapur, Jul 17: Explosive materials worth Rs 2.5 lac were found in an abandoned car at Karebail here on Saturday July 17, raising security concerns among police and public, especially in the wake of July 13 blasts in Mumbai.

The materials include ammonium nitrate, electric cables and detonators. The car, a Tata Sumo, was parked at Karebail but its owner was nowhere in sight.

Police have seized both the vehicle and the materials. Ganesh Hegde of the district crime investigation bureau arrived on the spot along with his team.

The vehicle is said to belong to a certain Paras from Belgaum.

It is not yet known how the materials came to be in the car or what their purpose was. Investigations are on.
