Mangalore, Jul 19:

He demanded Kageri's resignation and said if he does not step down, chief minister Yeddyurappa should sack him.

Sarfaraz, president of SIO, Mangalore said that any step taken by the government should be in sync with all the religions, castes and belief systems.

If Mr Kageri reads and understands the constitution of India, he will know who should leave India. He is a minister as per his oath and the provisions of the constitution. But this view is not against teaching and learning of Bhagawath Geetha. It should be taught by temple priests in the temple premises, as Bible is taught in churches and the Quaran in Mosques.

However, preaching the tenets of Geetha to children alone does no difference in the society, when the principles, values and morals enshrined therein, are not put in practice in governance of the state. If Mr Kageri's government practices what it desires to preach in schools, there will be required social change.

The minister further says that those opposing teaching of Geetha are influenced by western culture. He is not off the mark as the present education system is the handiwork of British, lest we should go back to the Gurukul system where education is meant for Brahmins and a ed few. Mr Education Minister, will you please learn something.
