Udupi: NRI couple Narendra, Sumana Shetty get lake cleaned within two days

Udupi, Jun 17: Narendra Shetty and Sumana Shetty, a couple employed in Saudi Arabia inspired by Oorigondu Kere programme held in the leadership of Sandeep Salian, civil judge and member of district legal services authority by I Lesa Zoom forum have got Mayandal lake, Padu Enagudde, Udupi Katpady cleaned under the cooperation of villagers within two days.

The work was made possible under the cooperation of panchayat development officer Mamata Shetty and panchayat president Indira S Acharya by physical labour of villagers Prabha Shetty, Prasin Poojary, Umesh, Ragini, Vittal Poojary, Lakshmi Narayana, Chetan, Ajith, Bhavani Raghu and elders.

Villagers are determined to develop and clean the lakes considering the scarcity of water during summer. Narendra Shetty said that he was inspired by the talk of Judge Sandeep Salian and Khalifa university scientist Dr Dinesh Shetty and realizing that it is necessary for everybody to create awareness against drought.

I Lesa organization has thanked the Narendra Shetty couple, officials, elected representatives and villagers.
