Mangalore: Veteran Temple Blacksmith Baburaya Acharya Passes Away

Mangalore, Jul 26: Renowned blacksmith Baburaya Acharya, who had provided sickles and swords to adorn deities in various temples in the city for over five decades, passed away on Sunday July 24.

Acharya, who lived in Thokkottu, was 76. He was a dramatist who toured undivided Dakshina Kannada district over five decades.  Acharya was recently felicitated by Kalikamba Vinayaka Temple authorities and Swami Bharati of Sringeri Mutt.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.

Kalikamba Vinayaka Temple managing trustee K Keshav Acharya and the office-bearers of Vishwa Brahmeen Seva Sangh offered condolences to the bereaved family of Baburaya.
