Puttur, July 18: To preserve nature, a survey officer and his wife planted Cadamba trees (Anthocephalus) on around 15 acres of land. And, the tree park is named 108 Kadamba Vrukshodyavana. It is situated at Samethadka of Puttur.
Pramod Kumar K and Dr Chandini took the initiative to plant Cadamba trees (Anthocephalus) to avoid illegal activities in the premises. Saplings were planted four years ago.
The couple along with children Ayush Narendra K P and daughter Ananya KP and with the help of their neighbours planted as many as 108Cadamba tree saplings (Anthocephalus) four years ago.
The saplings were planted on the land belonging to MLA Ashok Rai present, the MLA of Puttur.
The Cadamba trees have medicinal uses. It is also used for Ayurvedic medicinal purposes. It can treat several diseases according to experts. But, common people are aware of the medicinal character of this plant. The plants are nurtured by providing 'Jivamrutha' manure.
In Puttur, several people visit this tree park for walking. Moreover, several different types of birds and insects come here. Educational experts also come here to study the behaviour of birds. People claim that the tree park is a positive energy.
Reportedly, the bark of the tree and leaves has several medicinal values and it also will reduce the blood sugar level in the body.
The family who planted the trees has named all 108 trees after the 'Durga Stotra'.
It is reportedly said that earlier in that place several youths were indulging in illegal activities like consuming alcohol and other illegal activities.
Speaking to daijiworld.com, Dr Chandini said, " It is our little contribution to protect nature. These trees will give us positive energy. Before planting these trees on this spot there were illegal activities. Our children used to water these samplings using a five-litre can. My husband started this initiative to bring a change in the environment."
