Mangaluru: Another accused held on charges of housebreak at Mulki

Mangaluru, July 18: Mangaluru CCB police have arrested another accused on charges of stealing valuables in Mulki police station limits after breaking open the door of a house on January 1, 2023.

The front door lock of the house named Chandrika belonging to Aikala Harish Shetty at Guthakadu, Talipady village, Mangaluru was broken open between 6.30 pm on January 15 and 9 am on January 16, 2023 by unidentified miscreants and stole gold and silver jewellery along with cash.

A case in this connection was registered at Mulki police station.

The police team under the leadership of CCB ACP P A Hegde arrested two of the accused and recovered jewellery worth Rs 56,50,000, a mobile phone handset and other goods from them.

Mohammed Sharif (40), a resident of Bondathila village who showed the house to the other accused and helped in the theft was arrested and a gold pendent and a mobile phone handset was recovered from him. He has been produced in the court and remanded to judicial custody. It is said that some more accused  are involved in the theft. Police are on the look out for them.
