Bantwal, Aug 24: Roads of Kalladka are damaged and causing problems to the people. The traders of Kalladka unitedly raised the issue ignoring their differences on Thursday and expressed their anguish by blocking the vehicles of the contractors.

The protests were temporarily withdrawn after the company officials that is executing the contract and the police personnel who arrived at the spot, held discussions with the protesters and assured that the work will be resumes before next Wednesday.

Protesters said that the road is pothole-ridden. “The work of filling the potholes and strengthening the road should begin. There should be relief from dust. Drainage problems should also be solved. Protests such as closing the Kalladka market and blocking the highway will be held if the work does not begin before next Wednesday,” they warned.

A delegation of traders and local people had earlier explained the issues of
Kalladka highway work, damaged roads and dust to MP Nalin Kumar Kateel
during his visit on August 16. The MP had suggested laying of tar on the
road when the rains recede and sprinkling of water on a daily basis to solve the problem of dust. The protesters alleged that the officials and contractors agreed to the suggestions of the MP but implemented none of them.

Bantwal station SI Ramakrishna and staff and company officials visited the spot on Wednesday afternoon and held discussions. The protesters explained the issues to the officials.
