Bengaluru, Sep 11: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has urged the people to give importance to cleanliness of their surroundings to ward of mosquitoes in view of the sharp increase in Dengue cases all over the State.

Over 7,000 cases of dengue have been reported from different parts of the State with Bengaluru alone accounting for more than 4,000 cases of dengue, he said.

The Chief Minister, who held a review meeting with officials, voiced his concern over the sharp escalation of dengue cases in the State.

Spraying of insecticides and cleaning of accumulated water, which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes besides other precautionary measures have already been implemented in Bengaluru and other places, he said.\

Siddaramaiah said there was no need for panic over the incidence of dengue cases. However, people must maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and ensure that water is not kept in the open as mosquitoes breed in such places. All people must be vigilant, he said.
