Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrated across Karnataka

Bengaluru, Sep 28 (IANS): The Muslim community in Karnataka celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi on Thursday, with authorities issuing directives to ban raising of slogans in front of temples and churches during religious processions which will be taken out to mark the festival.

Religious processions will be taken out in the afternoon after prayers at the mosques.

To maintain law and order, the Bengaluru City Police have released a set of guidelines to be maintained during the processions, including the ban of DJ music; carrying weapons and sharp objects; and allowing only two people to ride on two wheelers.

The precaution is taken in the backdrop of prevailing sensitive situation in the state, especially in Bengaluru, due to the continuous agitations over the Cauvery issue.

Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated to mark the birth of Prophet Mohammad.
