Beltangady, Oct 9: Forest officials not only demolished the foundation laid by a family that lived at Amminadka of Kalenja for the past century, but also filed a complaint against the family members with Dharmasthala police.

MLA Harish Poonja had questioned the forest officials for demolishing the foundation of a house on October 7. Later, a temporary house was built with the help of local youths and also informed the matter to forest minister Eshwar Khandre. The minister advised officials to maintain status quo.

Jayaprakash K, forest officer of Uppinangady zone filed a case against Lolaksha, head of the family, Harish Koyila, Prasanna Manigeri, Yashwanta Gowda, Nonaiah Gowda, Janaradhana Gowda Kudda, Padmanabha Gowda Kudda, Dhananjaya Gowda Banderi, Ramachandra Mestry, Srinivas Gowda Kudda, Udaya Gowda Kudda and others.

In the complaint, the forest officer has alleged that the 10 accused and others mentioned in the complaint obstructed the work of forest officials on extended block 2 of reserve forest at Hamminadka and supported Lolaksha alias Anantu to build unauthorized building on forest land.

The public has expressed rage on the arrogance of the forest officer, who filed complaint even on elderly blind Lolaksha not honouring the words of MLA as well as the minister.

Common man needs to understand that, nobody is above law. When you are obstructing govt. officials form carrying out their duties, your are inviting trouble for yourself. Now, RFO has filed the F.I.R in Police Station, For rest of life all these accused have to keep visiting courts and spend thousands of rupees for lawyer fees & court hearings. Does the MLA or Local Leaders or Minister will go to court and stand in front of judge for every hearing. No, only these accused have to face the pain. So, never get carried away by the emotions & senses, control them from you mind and act wisely.

Arrogant audacity is the perfect explanation for the forest official's mindset... If the place belonged to the family for over 100 years, how can the land be a forest land?... Even if it falls under forest area they must be allowed to stay where they have been living over a century... in fact forest dept must provide materials and help for the construction of their new house...

Which law has been followed by family to build the law. If the land comes under Forest Area then who gave the permission to built the house. MLA Should have checked all the details and taken the right decision instead of supporting them. To all please don't support the illegal thing later on blaming on Global warming will not help. Save Forest.

The MLA should work with authorities to get him a Pakka House. No one should be allowed to grab the Govt land including forest land. In the past many grabbed the Govt forest land and they have converted them into farms. All steps should be taken to recover these lands. Akrama Sakrama is nothing but enabling the law breakers and encouraging others as well.
