Siddaramaiah greets people of Karnataka on Vijaya Dashami


Mysuru, Oct 24 (IANS): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah extended his greetings to the people of state on Vijaya Dashami and said that he would pray to goddess Chamundeshwari for the welfare and prosperity .

He spoke to the media at his residence in Mysore on Tuesday.

On the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, Nandi Dhwaja Puja will be performed in the afternoon at 1.45 p.m., in front of the Mysuru Palace and then the Ambari procession of Jamboo Savari will begin.

After the procession of elephants, horses and tableaux, Ambari carrying golden howdah will arrive.

“We will pay a flower tribute to goddess Chamundeshwari idol, which will be brought in the Jamboo Savari procession,” the Chief Minister explained.

The procession will be taken out of the Mysuru Palace and after it reaches Bannimantap, the torchlight parade will continue till 8 p.m.

Farmers are in distress due to lack of rain and electricity.

The Chief Minister wished that it would rain in the state and crops grown by farmers would survive.

"There is a shortage of rain in our state and farmers are facing power shortage. I will pray to god to save at least standing crops in the state,” he said. F

Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has also wished the people of the state on the occasion.
