Bengaluru: Police arrest dog owner for targeting woman who filed complaint against him


Bengaluru, Oct 26 (IANS): Karnataka Police on Thursday arrested a dog owner for targeting a woman who filed a complaint against him after she was bitten by his pet canine.

The accused identified as Nanjunda Babu had torched a bike and scooter belonging to the complainant Pushpa's family.

The incident took place on June 13 within the limits of Kothanur police station on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

Babu's pet dog attacked Pushpa near the Venugopala Swamy temple while she was on her way to work. Locals in the area rushed to help her and also took her to a nearby hospital.

The accused had threatened against consequences if a complaint was lodged in connection to the incident.

Babu’s family had assured the victim that they would pay for all the medical treatment until she is fully recovered.

But when they failed to do so, she they failed to fulfil their promises, the victim filed her complaint.

The victim claimed that she did not have money for the medical expenditures and she had borrowed funds from a chit fund.

Enraged by this, the accused allegedly torched the bike belonging to the victim’s son and her scooter on Tuesday.
