Mangaluru: Bakers Rejoice - NICO’s Chocolate Street inaugurated

Mangaluru, May 11: A highly anticipated event, Nitte Institute of Communication’s (NICO) fifth edition of Chocolate Street 2024, was inaugurated on May 11 at Fiza by Nexus on Saturday.

The event was inaugurated by chief guest, Durai Arun Prasath Selvam, group learning and developmental manager, The Ocean Pearl Hotels Private Limited and guest of honour, Roshan Kolar, assistant director of Branding, Nitte (Deemed to be University).

In his address, Durai reflected on how chocolate is an emotion and has always been a part of his life. He advised the young audience to always have a vision and always have a core values. NICO’s effort to recognize and give a platform to the upcoming local bakers from the town is a commendable job, he said.

Roshan Kolar in his speech explained how he perceives chocolate as a stress buster and a medicine for therapy. He emphasised on the importance of sticking on what you love and building once’s path in that direction.

The dignitaries of the day also included Raviraj Kini, head of Nitte Institute of Communication, Dr Anisha Nishanth, faculty coordinator and student coordinators, Malavika Nair and Breanne Banze.

The vote of thanks was proposed by one of the student coordinators Malavika Nair. The master of ceremony was Alka Sequeira, second year student of NICO. The ceremony was concluded by the official inauguration of NICO's Chocolate Street by cutting off the cake with the presence of NICO's official mascot Benny.
