Udupi: Free eye, medical check-up held at Lady of Lourdes Church

Udupi, Jun 28: A free eye check-up, medical check-up and cancer awareness programme was held at Lady of Lourdes Church, Souhardha Bhavan hall on June 26.

The event was jointly organized by Indian Cancer Society of India, Prasad Netralaya Udupi, Sparsha Sampadha Udupi (R), Lions Club Neere Bailur (R), KMC Manipal, Primary Health Centre Bailur (Sub Centre Kanajar) Commission for health and Commission for Women of Kanajar parish.

Fr Harold Pereira in his presidential note said, “We should be healthy and help others to be healthy." He thanked all the associations for coming under one umbrella and rendering valuable free service to the rural people.

Dr Hemanth Hegde gave sufficient information on how one can prevent cancer. He said, “Prevention is better than the cure.”

Stanly Fernandes, coordinator of Sampada gave his message, and congratulated Lourdes church for organizing such a valuable free health check-up camp.

As many as 150 people made use of the facility of free check-up. The locals responded well to the free health check-up camp.

J B D'Souza the convener Commission for Health Kanajar church welcomed the gathering. Diana Saldhana mastered the ceremony. Lion Ivan Miranda proposed a vote of thanks.
