Udupi, Nov 30: Six people were injured in a collision between a mini bus and a tanker near Mabukula, here on Wednesday November 30.

The injured have been identified as Manju, Vasu, Mahesh, Nagaraj, Raghavendra and Satish, all from Mysore.  They were admitted in a private hospital at Brahmavar, here.

Twenty pilgrims from Mysore were returning from a pilgrimage to Sabarimala, and were on their way to Gokarna after visiting Dharmasthala and Sri Krishna Mutt, here.

The ghastly accident occurred when the mini bus collided with a chemical laden tanker, plying from Kundapur to Udupi. As a result the battery exploded and fire engulfed both the vehicles. Fire brigade personnel from Udupi and Kundapur arrived on the spot and managed to extinguish the fire.

The tanker driver fled from the scene soon after the mishap. The tanker was only partially burnt thanks to the non-inflammable nature of the chemical in its tank.

Kota sub-inspector Mahesh Prasad, Brahmavar sub-inspector Hosakerappa and other police were at the spot.

Kota police registered a case in this regard.
