Mangaluru: 14th annual convocation of Nitte Deemed to be University to be held on Nov 16

Mangaluru Nov 13: Nitte (Deemed to University) will host its fourteenth annual convocation for its graduates on Saturday, November 16 at 3 pm. The ceremony will take place at KSHEMA Grounds in the Deralakatte campus of the university.

The event will be presided over by the chancellor N Vinaya Hegde, with the convocation address being delivered by surgeon vice admiral Dr Arti Sarin AVSM, VSM, director general, Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). The event will be attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Prof Dr M Shantharam Shetty, pro-chancellor (hospital management) and Vishal Hegde, pro-chancellor (admin) and Prof Dr M S Moodithaya, vice chancellor, who will deliver the welcome address. Other university officials such as Dr Harsha Halahalli, registrar, Prof Dr Prasad B Shetty, controller of examinations, the Heads of the constituent colleges and members of the executive council and academic council will also be present.

A total of 1052 graduates will receive their degrees during this convocation including doctor of philosophy 34, medical 163 (PG-15+UG-148), ental 147 (Fellowship-1+PG-49+UG-97), pharmacy 209 (PG-107+UG-102), nursing 143 (PG-05+UG-138), physiotherapy 85 (PG-30+UG-55), allied health sciences 146 (PG-42+100+PGD-04), humanities 14 (PG-06+ UG-03-+PGD-05), biological sciences 49 (PG-45 +UG-04), architecture 41 (UG), speech and hearing 15 (PG) and business administration 6 (PG-06).

In recognition of academic excellence, the university will also award 22 gold medals (11 Nitte University gold medals and 11 endowment gold medals) and 72 merit certificates to outstanding students.

Registrar Dr Harsha Halahalli, controller of examinations Prof Dr Prasad B Shetty and vice chancellor Prof Dr MS Moodithaya were present.

Nitte DU is part of the renowned Nitte Group of Institutions, which was founded by the Late Justice K S Hegde, a former judge of the Supreme Court of India and former speaker of the parliament of India. The Nitte Education Trust manages 36 institutions across three campuses in Nitte, Mangaluru, and Bengaluru, with nearly 25,000 students enrolled.
