New Delhi, Jan 23: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has laid out an ambitious agenda at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, focusing on transforming the state into a hub for green hydrogen, artificial intelligence (AI), and cutting-edge technological advancements.

Green hydrogen, a clean energy source that emits only water vapor, is at the forefront of Andhra Pradesh's energy strategy. Naidu emphasized the state's commitment to leveraging solar, wind, and pumped energy to reduce traditional energy costs.

“Green energy and green hydrogen are becoming a reality. We are witnessing projects like NTPC’s Rs 1.87 lac crore green hydrogen initiative in Visakhapatnam and Greenco’s hybrid energy model combining solar, wind, and pumped energy. These developments pave the way for green ammonia production, which will begin within a year,” Naidu explained.

Although green hydrogen remains globally expensive, Naidu highlighted its potential to combat global warming and bridge the energy gap between countries.

Andhra Pradesh is also advancing plans to develop a ‘drone city,’ aiming to enhance mechanization across sectors.

"Drones can revolutionize policing, health, education, and disaster relief. For example, during floods, drones can deliver relief materials efficiently. This model will provide proof of concept for manufacturers to scale up operations," Naidu stated.

He envisions drones taking over routine tasks like police patrolling, reducing manpower requirements and enabling rapid intervention when necessary.

Reflecting on his earlier achievements in developing Hyderabad and Cyberabad, Mr. Naidu is now focused on building Amaravati as a modern, sustainable city.

“India needs new cities. After Chandigarh, we have only expanded existing cities. Amaravati will be the grandest, combining the latest technologies with environmental sustainability,” he said.

Acknowledging setbacks during the previous administration, Naidu noted that progress has resumed with the support of the central government. Key projects like Amaravati and Polavaram are now back on track.

Naidu also underscored the importance of the speed of doing business and AI's transformative potential. By integrating real-time data collection and AI advancements, Andhra Pradesh aims to provide efficient citizen services and attract global investments.

India’s delegation to Davos, including five Union ministers and multiple state leaders, aims to position the country as a global leader in sustainable development and technological innovation. Andhra Pradesh’s green energy and drone initiatives stand as key contributions to this effort.

The WEF summit, with over 3,000 leaders from 130 countries, serves as a platform to harness new technologies and foster economic resilience. Andhra Pradesh’s vision aligns seamlessly with these goals, as the state strives to emerge as a leader in green hydrogen, AI, and urban development.
