New Delhi, Feb 22: Veteran activist Anna Hazare has stated that Arvind Kejriwal was doing a commendable job as Delhi Chief Minister, but faced public anger after his government opened liquor vends and issued licences.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Hazare, who played a key role in the India Against Corruption movement, said Kejriwal initially governed well but later deviated from his principles.

"He was elected as CM thrice because people believed in his work. I did not criticize him because he was doing a good job. But when he started opening liquor vends, I was deeply disappointed," said Hazare, referring to the AAP government's excise policy.
Hazare also welcomed the election of Rekha Gupta as the new Delhi Chief Minister, calling it a matter of pride. He attributed her victory to her "pure thoughts and deeds," suggesting that the public had responded to her integrity and values.
A known opponent of alcohol consumption and sales, Hazare has long advocated for prohibition policies. His remarks come in light of the controversial excise policy implemented by the Kejriwal-led AAP government, which faced scrutiny and allegations of corruption.
Kejriwal, who was once a close associate of Hazare during the anti-corruption movement, later parted ways to establish the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2012.
