Gandhinagar, Feb 27: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Gujarat on Wednesday, marking the last phase of her three-state visit.

The President landed in Vadodara from Madhya Pradesh, where she had attended a mass wedding ceremony organised by Shri Bageshwar Jan Seva Samiti at Gadha, Chhatarpur.

Following her arrival, she proceeded to Ektanagar to pay tributes at the Statue of Unity and witness the Narmada Aarti at Kevadia.

The Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue at 182 metres (nearly 600 feet), stands as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first home minister, who played a pivotal role in unifying 562 princely states into the Republic of India. Inaugurated on October 31, 2018, the statue is set against the scenic backdrop of the Satpura and Vindhyachal hills in Gujarat.

On February 27, President Murmu is scheduled to visit the Ekta Skill Development Centre in Kevadia and attend the 44th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad.

On February 28, she will grace the third convocation ceremony of the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar. Later that day, she is set to visit the Smritivan Earthquake Memorial in Bhuj.

On March 1, the President will visit Dholavira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient Harappan civilisation remains.

Earlier in her tour, President Murmu attended the centenary celebrations of Patna Medical College in Bihar on Tuesday.
