Mangaluru: Women’s cell of St Agnes College holds sanitary pad distribution drive

Media Release

Mangaluru, Mar 10: The women’s cell of St Agnes College (Autonomous), organized a sanitary pad distribution drive as part of International Women's Day activities. The initiative aimed to promote menstrual hygiene and support underprivileged women at the construction site in and around Mangaluru.

Sanitary pads were collected from students across different departments of the college reflecting their willingness to support women’s health and well-being. The drive served as a reminder of the importance of menstrual hygiene and the role of community efforts in addressing such issues.

Following the donation drive, during the Women's week, the women’s cell distributed the collected sanitary pads to female workers at three construction sites in Bendoor, Padil, and Nagori. A total of 700 sanitary napkins were gathered and handed over to ensure access to basic menstrual hygiene for women in these areas.

Members of the women’s cell personally visited the sites, interacting with the workers and highlighting the importance of menstrual health. The recipients expressed gratitude for the support; as such essentials are often difficult for them to access regularly.

This initiative not only provided necessary hygienic products but helped raise awareness about menstrual health among underprivileged women. The Women’s Cell remains committed to conducting similar initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the community.
