This is the reality facing Cyril Crasta, a 50-year-old resident of Narampady, who has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
Cyril is the sole breadwinner of his family, a father of two young children who are currently studying in primary school. For years, Cyril has worked tirelessly, taking on daily wage jobs to make ends meet. Despite growing up in poverty, he has always dreamed of providing his children with a better future, particularly through quality education.
However, this dream is now threatened by a devastating diagnosis: both of Cyril’s kidneys have stopped functioning. This sudden illness has turned the Crasta family’s world upside down. The mounting medical expenses, along with daily needs and school fees, have become an overwhelming burden. After seeking medical care, doctors confirmed that Cyril needs a kidney transplant to survive, with an estimated cost of Rs 12 lac for the procedure.
In this time of crisis, the local community and parishioners have come together to offer support, both morally and financially. A committee has been formed to help Cyril and his family, and a kidney donor has been found. However, the financial requirement for the surgery is still a significant hurdle.
