Moodbidri, Jan 16: The annual feast of Infant Jesus Shrine, Alangar was celebrated with solemnity and fervour on Sunday January 15.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was held at 5.30 pm presided over by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza. Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado, professor in Moral Theology at St Joseph’s Seminary preached a meaningful homily.

Over 6,000 devotees partook in the festal Eucharistic Celebration on the occasion. As a preparation for the feast, novenas were conducted for nine-days. Masses were celebrated and special prayers were offered for various intentions. Holy Masses in Kannada, Malayalam and English were celebrated by the priests on Saturday and Sunday morning.

The diocese of Mangalore is celebrating the post centenary silver jubilee this year. In thanksgiving to God for the gift of faith that He has given and in view of reaffirming commitment to Christ, the theme chosen for the feast was, ‘let us live the faith and renew the church.’

The evening masses were telecast live on TV and the internet by Mangalore based Pace Media.

The devotees from across Mangalore diocese attended the religious celebrations in large numbers throughout nine-days of novena and special prayers to Infant Jesus at the Shrine, here.  The devotees were provided with fellowship-meal during the occasion.
