Mangaluru, Mar 20: The discipline committee of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organised an awareness programme on POSH Act and anti-ragging on March 19 for all the UG boys’ students.
The resource speaker for the session was Shobha Jacintha D'Souza, counsellor and social worker. Shobha conducted an engaging and informative session. She began with an activity for the students' attention. She emphasized the need for the male students to get to know the POSH Act and how they can protect themselves from being a victim.







She elaborated on the following; introduction to the POSH Act, types of sexual harassment, the importance of body language in front of others, few real-life examples and provided cautious steps one must take. She also talked briefly about anti-ragging and the POCSO Act and even encouraged us to preserve the nature and be inspired who do so. She also presented a couple of videos to the audience for better understanding. She concluded her talk with a short Q&A session.
Roopesh Kumar, assistant professor, MBA department welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker. Principal Sr Dr M Venissa AC presented a sapling while Dr R Nagesh, convenor, discipline committee, presented a memento to Shobha as a token of our appreciation and for her valuable time. The vote of thanks was delivered by Niyanth Kumar of III BBA.
Overall, the session was an enriching and informative one for the students which gave them valuable insights about the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone. Moving forward such sessions are essential for the students to remain vigilant, supportive and committed to uphold these standards.
