Mumbai, Mar 29: Barelvi cleric and All India Muslim Jamaat president Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi has stated that Bollywood actor Salman Khan wearing a Ram Janmabhoomi edition watch is ‘haram’ (forbidden) in Islam.
Addressing inquiries about the matter, Maulana Razvi asserted that according to Shariat, a Muslim wearing a watch dedicated to the Ram Temple is not permissible. He added that Salman, being a widely recognized personality with a massive Muslim fan base, should refrain from actions deemed un-Islamic and seek repentance.

The controversy arose after Salman Khan was spotted wearing the exclusive Ram Janmabhoomi edition watch during the promotion of his upcoming film Sikandar. The luxury watch, featuring intricate engravings of the Ayodhya temple and sacred Hindu inscriptions, is a rare collector’s item with only 49 pieces available worldwide. Salman Khan reportedly owns one, gifted to him by his mother, Salma Khan. The watch is priced at Rs 34 lac.
As Salman gears up for the release of Sikandar this Eid on March 30, the debate around his watch continues to draw attention, sparking discussions within various communities. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and is set for a grand theatrical release.
