Amritsar, Apr 5: Punjabi superstar Gippy Grewal, who is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film ‘Akaal: The Unconquered’, paid a spiritual visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. He was joined by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, as the two offered prayers and sought divine blessings.

Gippy Grewal shared a glimpse of the serene visit on his Instagram handle on Saturday. In the video, both artistes can be seen walking through the holy premises of the Golden Temple. The caption read, “Kan Kan de vich Rabb wasda Aye #Akaal releasing in Punjabi and Hindi worldwide, in cinemas on 10th April, 2025.”

The actor had earlier shared that ‘Akaal’ explores deep, intense emotions and marks a departure from the comedy-dominated landscape of Punjabi cinema. Speaking to IANS, Gippy said, “It’s not that only comedies are made in Punjabi cinema—other genres are explored too. But comedy films tend to become big hits. If a film like ‘Akaal’ works, it will change how people view strong, impactful roles.”

Known for his immense contributions to both Punjabi music and cinema, Gippy rose to fame with hits like ‘Angrezi Beat’ featuring Yo Yo Honey Singh, which was also featured in the Bollywood film ‘Cocktail’. His hit songs like ‘Phulkari’ and films like ‘Carry On Jatta’, ‘Bhaji in Problem’, and ‘Jatt James Bond’ have solidified his place in the industry.

Gippy also owns two production houses—Humble Motion Pictures and Big Daddy Films—with his brother Sippy Grewal.

‘Akaal: The Unconquered’ is set for a grand release in Punjabi and Hindi on April 10, 2025.
