Arjun Kapoor reveals his first love was filmmaking, not acting

Mumbai, Apr 15: Before stepping into the spotlight as an actor, Arjun Kapoor harboured a passion for storytelling from behind the camera. The Bollywood star recently revealed that his heart initially belonged to filmmaking and direction, long before acting took center stage in his life.

“It’s the magic trick of cinema that fascinates me,” Arjun shared in a candid conversation. “Not everything has to be logical the conviction is what sells the illusion. I was always inclined towards making films. I love watching Korean and European cinema, and that passion never faded.”

Arjun traced the roots of his cinematic love back to childhood, when he saw his father bring the grand and ambitious Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja to life. “RKRCKR was the most expensive film back then. I was enamoured by it. That joy of movies stayed with me,” he added.

Currently engrossed in watching The Day of the Jackal, featuring Eddie Redmayne, the Gunday actor also spoke of his admiration for directors like Tony Scott and David Fincher. “Tony Scott’s Top Gun is the OG. And then David Fincher gave us masterpieces like Seven and Fight Club.”

Arjun also expressed his displeasure with modern trailers for revealing too much. “Trailers today often give away the whole plot. But I loved the suspense in Animal, Padmaavat, and Bajirao Mastani. Those are director’s trailers beautifully shot and designed to create intrigue,” he noted, also praising Michael Bay’s high-octane trailer style.

On the professional front, Arjun Kapoor was last seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi, co-starring Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar. While he continues to charm audiences on-screen, his heart still beats for the magic behind the lens.
