Mumbai, Apr 17: The vibrant lanes of Mumbai echoed with excitement as the much- anticipated romantic drama Deewaniyat, featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in lead roles, officially began filming on Thursday. The project is backed by debutant producer Anshul Garg and helmed by director Milap Milan Zaveri, known for his flair for mass entertainers.
Sharing his thoughts on the film, Harshvardhan Rane expressed, “There’s something very grounded and sincere about this film. It’s a pleasure to be working with Sonam, and Milap Zaveri has crafted a story that hits you emotionally.”
The film’s muhurat ceremony is slated for April 18 and marks a major milestone for Garg, who is stepping into the world of cinema after a successful stint in the music industry. Speaking about his vision, Harshvardhan added, “Anshul’s focus and clarity on Deewaniyat have been inspiring. He knows exactly the kind of film he wants to bring to audiences.”
Touted as a music-driven love story, Deewaniyat brings together a fresh pairing of Harshvardhan and Sonam with a narrative deeply rooted in passion and heartbreak. Director Milap Zaveri said, “This is a film about love in its most intense and honest form. Harsh and Sonam light up the screen together, and Anshul brings an emotional and musical sensitivity that truly enriches the storytelling.”
Anshul Garg, who founded Desi Music Factory, described Deewaniyat as a heartfelt journey. “This story resonated with me from day one. It’s a film where music is not just an accessory but the heartbeat of the narrative. With Milap’s direction and the passionate performances of Harsh and Sonam, we’re creating something special,” he said.
An Instagram post from Desi Music Factory offered fans a sneak peek of the shoot with a clapboard bearing the title Deewaniyat. The caption read: “After rocking the music charts, it takes us great pride to announce our first foray into cinema! Presenting Anshul Garg’s ‘Production No. 1’ — filled with seetis, taalis, masala, music, romance, and mayhem.”
The screenplay is co-written by Milap Zaveri and Mushtaq Shiekh. The film’s first schedule will be shot entirely in Mumbai, with its theatrical release slated for 2025.
With its blend of soulful music and intense storytelling, Deewaniyat promises to be a cinematic treat for audiences in the year ahead.
