Mumbai, Apr 18: Aarchi Sachdeva, currently seen as Payal in the popular television show Kumkum Bhagya, opened up about her unexpected transition from aviation to acting — a journey she describes as both surreal and deeply fulfilling.
Originally on track to become a cabin crew member, Aarchi was nearly finished with her aviation training when a moment of spontaneity altered her path forever. Encouraged by her mother to attend an acting audition, Aarchi discovered a long-hidden passion that would soon take center stage in her life.
“I never saw acting as a possibility growing up,” Aarchi shared. “I come from a non-filmy background and always imagined myself in a steady, simple profession. I even worked as an art teacher before fully committing to aviation. I studied hard, cleared interviews with several airlines — I was all set to soar.”

Yet beneath her practical ambitions, a quiet dream lingered.
“Acting had always been a small spark in me, something I never really gave a chance. It was my mom who reignited that spark. She saw something in me and urged me to give auditions a try, even while I was preparing for airline placements,” she recalled.
That single audition was the turning point. “The moment I walked onto a set, it just clicked. Everything felt right — like I’d finally found my place. That’s when I made the bold choice to leave aviation behind and move to Mumbai to chase this new dream.”
Now, looking back, Aarchi sees the detour as destiny. “It honestly feels like life had other plans for me, and I’m so grateful I listened to that inner voice — and my mom.”
While each role has helped shape her as an artist, Aarchi says Kumkum Bhagya is particularly close to her heart. “Being part of such an iconic show, with such a loyal fan base, has been a true blessing. The love and recognition I’ve received are beyond anything I could have imagined. What began as a leap of faith has become the dream I now get to live every single day.”
Kumkum Bhagya airs on Zee TV.
