Tehran, May 19: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has signaled a willingness to reach an agreement with the United States, provided Washington abandons its coercive stance. His remarks came during a meeting in Tehran with visiting Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
"An agreement with the United States is within reach," Pezeshkian stated, "but only if the American side abandons its strategy of pressure and coercion." The comments reflect Iran’s ongoing position amid indirect negotiations with the U.S. over its nuclear program and sanctions relief.
The Qatari Prime Minister echoed Pezeshkian’s sentiment, affirming Doha’s support for Tehran. “Experience has shown that pressure and coercion are ineffective when dealing with Iran,” Al Thani noted, reinforcing Qatar's alignment with a diplomatic path forward.

Later in the day, Pezeshkian also met with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi. During the meeting, the Iranian president commended Oman for its “constructive and committed” role in facilitating indirect discussions between Tehran and Washington.
Expressing optimism, Pezeshkian said he hoped the negotiations would lead to a just and sustainable agreement that strengthens regional stability in West Asia.
Since April 12, Iran and the U.S. have conducted four rounds of indirect talks — three hosted in Muscat, Oman, and one in Rome, Italy. The discussions are centered on Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the potential easing of American sanctions.
As diplomatic efforts continue behind closed doors, Tehran’s latest message underscores both its openness to dialogue and its insistence on mutual respect as a precondition for progress.
