Mangaluru: CCB busts illegal hookah bar operating from mall parking area

Mangaluru, May 25: In a joint operation, the Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have raided an illegally operating hookah bar in the parking area of Mack Mall in Kankanady under the jurisdiction of Mangaluru East Police Station.

The establishment, functioning under the name Black Moon Resto Café, was reportedly running a hookah bar in violation of regulations, despite possessing a trade license issued by the Mangaluru City Corporation for running a cafeteria during 2023–24.

The CCB has initiated action against three individuals allegedly involved in the illegal activity: Siddiq alias MFC Siddiq, Abdul Naseer, and Safwan. According to police, the accused were conducting the hookah bar under the guise of a cafeteria, violating legal norms and luring young customers into substance use to earn unlawful profits.

During the raid, the police seized hookah smoking equipment and tobacco-related products from the premises.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik and led by inspector Rafique K M. PSI Sudeep M V, Sharannappa Bhandari, ASI Sujan Shetty, CCB staff, along with Mangaluru East Police Station PSI Manohar Prasad and team participated in the raid.
