Mangaluru: 'Green today, greener tomorrow': St Theresa’s leads Environment Day celebrations

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 5: In a spirited effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainability among young minds, St Theresa’s School celebrated World Environment Day on June 5 with great enthusiasm through an engaging and educational morning assembly.

The celebration, held on the school main ground under the school’s theme 'Green Today, Greener Tomorrow,' began with a special assembly conducted by the grade X students of environmental applications.

The programme featured a meaningful prayer, welcome address, introduction, a vibrant dance, and a thought-provoking skit highlighting the importance of conserving nature and adopting eco-friendly practices.

Principal Sr Lourdes addressed the gathering and emphasised the role of students as future custodians of the Earth. “Environmental awareness should not be confined to textbooks—it should be lived and practiced,” she reminded the students.

Additionally, the students and faculty of Lakshmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy joined the celebration and presented a powerful street play on the theme “Putting an End to Plastic Pollution.” Their performance effectively conveyed the urgency of reducing plastic use and inspired students to take responsible steps toward environmental sustainability.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

This Environment Day celebration was not merely a one-day event, but a call to action—urging every student to adopt green habits and become ambassadors of change in their homes and communities.
