Kolar, June 16: Yet another ATM robbery has been reported in Karnataka. In a daring heist, unidentified miscreants broke into a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM and made away with Rs 27.62 lac in cash.

The incident took place around 4:30 am on Monday in the jurisdiction of the Ghulpet Police Station, Kolar district. According to police reports, the ATM kiosk was unguarded at the time of the robbery.

The thieves targeted the SBI ATM located in the area, broke open the cash box using gas cutters, and fled with over Rs 27 lac. To avoid being identified, they sprayed black paint over the CCTV cameras inside the kiosk, effectively disabling the surveillance system.

Authorities further noted that the ATM's internal alarm systems were non-functional during the robbery, which made it easier for the culprits to execute their plan undetected.

Kolar district superintendent of police Nikhil B confirmed the robbery and stated, “The culprits used gas cutters to open the machine and stole Rs 27.62 lakh in cash. We have registered a case and are actively investigating the matter.”

The police are currently examining all leads and CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the accused and trace their whereabouts.
