Mangaluru, Jul 24: Remona Evette Pereira, a student of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, has embarked on a remarkable journey to break the world record in Bharatanatyam by aiming for an entry in the Golden Book of World Records. Her record-setting performance began on July 21 at St Aloysius College.
Remona is attempting a continuous seven-day Bharatanatyam performance totalling 170 hours. She is currently pursuing her final year of BA. The performance began on July 21 and is scheduled to conclude on July 28.

As part of the challenge, she will dance for three hours at a stretch, followed by a 15-minute break for light food and rest.
The current record stands at 127 hours, set in 2023 by 16-year-old Sudhir Jagpath.
Remona has been training in Bharatanatyam for the past 13 years under the guidance of Guru Sri Vidya in Yeyyadi. To prepare for this monumental feat, she has been practicing for 5–6 hours daily— from 6:00 am to 7:30 am before college, and from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the evenings.
Her dedication to the arts has already earned her national recognition. In 2022, she was awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar for her outstanding achievements in the field of art and culture.
Apart from Bharatanatyam, Remona is also trained in semi-classical, western, and contemporary dance forms. In 2017, she was featured in the India Book of Records, Golden Book of Records – London, and the Bharat Book of Records.
