Mangaluru: Yenepoya School & PU College holds anti-drugs awareness programme

Mangaluru, Aug 4: The Yenepoya School & PU College, in association with the Mangalore City Police, organized a thought-provoking Anti-Drugs Awareness Programme on August 4, at the Yendurance Zone, Yenepoya Deemed-to-be University, Deralakatte.

The programme featured the presence of several distinguished guests, including Vijaya Kranti, assistant commissioner of police, south sub division, Mangaluru, Dr Shiva Kumar K and Anita Nikham, sub-inspectors of the Kankanady town police station.

 

Addressing the audience as the chief guest, Vijaya Kranti spoke powerfully on issues such as sexual abuse, substance abuse, and the vulnerability of youth, stressing the far-reaching consequences of these concerns. Her speech was followed by Dr Shiva Kumar’s insightful talk on the importance of awareness, positive peer influence, and community involvement in preventing drug misuse among young people.

Dr Bindu Rani P, counsellor from Link De-Addiction Centre, Mangaluru, conducted an engaging and compassionate session focusing on the emotional, psychological, and social impact of addiction. She encouraged students to make informed choices, be responsible, and seek help without hesitation, while also offering practical guidance for prevention and recovery.

The event served as a strong reminder of the shared responsibility between schools, law enforcement, families, and communities in guiding youth towards a drug-free and healthy future.
