Christking Institutions holds programme on child rights & personal safety

Karkala, Aug 6: An awareness program on health protection, child rights, and personal safety was organized for high school and pre-university students at Christking Pre-University College under the aegis of the institution’s Child Protection Committee.

District child protection officer, Nagaratna Nayak, who attended the programme, provided valuable information on the dangers that may arise from social media and interactions with strangers, the POCSO Act, and the constitutional and legal rights of children.

Senior medical officer, Dr Shama Shukoor, spoke about the harmful effects of substance abuse, mobile addiction, and possible solutions to overcome these issues.

The principal of the institution, Lakshmi Narayana Kamath, presided over the programme. Other dignitaries present on the dais included health education officer Sushila, vice principal Prakash Bhat, high school headmistress Josna Snehalatha, primary section headmaster Rudolph Kishore Lobo, administrative officer Kiran Crasta, and teacher representatives from the Child Protection Committee — English lecturer Shiji C K and high school teacher Mangala.

The programme was compered and coordinated by English lecturer and Child Protection Committee coordinator Pavana Dhanyaraj.
