Karkala, Aug 29: MPM Government First Grade College Karkala, under the joint auspices of the National Service Scheme and anti-drug units, in collaboration with the Excise Department, Udupi district, organised an awareness programme on the evil effects of drug addiction on Friday, August 29 under the programme called "Drug-Free India" ("Nasha Muckth Bharath").
The programme was inaugurated by the superintendent of excise, Udupi district, Gurumurthy Palekar by lighting the lamp. He then addressed and appealed the students to keep away from drugs.
In the programme, the deputy inspector of excise, Raghavendra, spoke about the evil effects of drugs and their consumption and the awareness measures to be taken and called on the students to live a peaceful life without drugs for the society.














Head of commerce and in-charge principal, Dr Chandravathi presided over the function. National Service Scheme officer Chandrakantha Shenoy delivered the introductory remarks. Soumya K, a member of the Anti-Drug Association, informed the students about the appropriateness of the anti-drug programme. Karkala Zone excise inspector Ramesh and staff Shankarananda, Krishna Acharya, Subhash and Prakash were present.
IQAC coordinator Vinay M S and National Service Scheme officer Renuka were present. Kumari Preksha Shetty II BA welcomed. Hitesh I BA and team prayed. Kumari Ananya II BCom emceed the programme, Kumari Yajneshwari I BCom rendered the vote of thanks. All the students who joined the National Service Scheme participated and got benefitted.
