Bidar, Sept 17: In a shocking incident tied to a property dispute, a six-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her stepmother, who pushed her from the third floor of a building in Bidar’s New Adarsh Colony.
The victim has been identified as Saanvi (6). The accused, Radha, reportedly took the child to the terrace under the pretext of playing on August 27, and then pushed her off when no one was around.
Initially, the incident was thought to be an accidental fall, and an unnatural death report (UDR) was filed at the Gandhi Ganj police station based on a complaint lodged by the child’s father.

However, the truth began to emerge when, on September 13, a member of the public submitted CCTV footage that clearly contradicted the original assumptions. The video revealed that the child had not fallen accidentally. It showed Radha setting up a chair with an inverted bucket on top to make the child sit before pushing her off.
Based on this crucial evidence, Saanvi’s grandmother filed a complaint against Radha. Following the complaint, police arrested Radha, who has reportedly confessed to the crime, and she has since been remanded to judicial custody.
Further investigation revealed a disturbing motive: Radha is the second wife of the child’s father. His first wife passed away in 2019, and he remarried in 2023.
The couple has twins together. Radha allegedly viewed Saanvi, the daughter from the first marriage, as an obstacle in the division of family property. She feared Saanvi would also receive a share of the inheritance and wanted her own children to be the sole beneficiaries. This led to the premeditated killing, according to police sources.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing outrage over the brutality of the act, especially when committed by a member of the child’s own family.
