Chennai, Oct 30: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal on Thursday penned an emotional note as his daughter Vismaya Mohanlal stepped into the world of cinema with her debut film ‘Thudakkam’, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner.

Sharing his thoughts on X after the film’s launch in Kochi, Mohanlal wrote, “Every journey has its Thudakkam… and this one fills our hearts with pride and love. As parents, seeing our Maya step into this new chapter is a moment we will always hold close.”

He also extended his best wishes to the film’s team, adding, “Our heartfelt wishes to Jude Anthany Joseph, whose vision continues to inspire, and to Antony Perumbavoor, our dear friend and the guiding force behind this film. May Thudakkam mark the beginning of something truly beautiful for everyone involved.”

At the event, Mohanlal reflected on his own unexpected journey into films and said he never imagined both his children would follow the same path.

“My daughter is named Vismaya because my life has always been full of surprises. When she decided to act, we gave her our full support,” he said.

He also joked that though Antony Perumbavoor’s son Aashish Joe Antony also plays a key role in the film, “this is not a family affair,” drawing laughter from the audience.

Producer Antony described Thudakkam as “a project beyond words” and said the decision for Vismaya to act was a heartfelt, collective one, calling Jude “an extended family member.”

The film’s puja ceremony, held in Kochi on Thursday morning, marked a special moment for two of Malayalam cinema’s most celebrated families — the Mohanlals and the Perumbavoors.
