Rajasthan becomes India’s first state to fully digitise voter list under SIR–2026

Jaipur, Dec 6: Rajasthan has set a new national benchmark in electoral reforms by becoming the first state in India to achieve 100 per cent digitisation of its voter list under the Special Intensive Revision–2026 (SIR–2026), officials announced on Saturday. The breakthrough is being hailed as a major step toward a more transparent, efficient, and citizen-focused electoral system.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Naveen Mahajan called the achievement a “collective victory of Team Rajasthan,” crediting an extensive network of Booth Level Officers, supervising officials, district election authorities, and ground teams across rural and urban regions for their coordinated and disciplined effort.

Mahajan revealed that over 97 per cent of voter mapping has already been completed, leaving only about three per cent of voters needing to submit documents during the claims and objections stage. On average, he said, just 30 individuals per polling station will require document verification — a dramatic reduction made possible through precise and updated mapping.

The Election Department strengthened digital systems including ECINET, the BLO mobile application, portal-based verification platforms, and district helplines to ensure a secure and seamless process. Strict guidelines and continuous monitoring were enforced at every administrative level.

CEO Mahajan highlighted that the digitisation drive has simplified booth-wise verification, reduced paperwork, and enhanced transparency. He praised the unwavering commitment of BLOs and other grassroots workers who played a crucial role in completing the effort ahead of schedule.

He also extended gratitude to Rajasthan’s voters for their cooperation, noting active participation from senior citizens, persons with disabilities, labourers, and residents of remote regions — a reflection of the state’s deep-rooted democratic spirit.

According to the official timeline, the draft electoral roll will be published on December 16, while the final voter list is scheduled for release on February 14, 2026. Mahajan urged all eligible voters to review their details in the draft roll and take part in the next phases of the revision process.
